Viking Visby Lens Gotland Glass Sphere with Chain

The Visby lenses are a collection of crystal spheres found in several Viking graves on the island of Gotland, part of modern day Sweden.

Various uses have been proposed for the lenses. They may have been used by craftsmen for magnification in fine work, as reading stones, or to start fires.

This interpretation is a 30mm glass sphere mounted securely in polished brass, and suspended on a 80cm matching brass chain.
